The First Glimpse of The Divide

Yesterday, The Divide finally became something I could see.
Not just pages on a screen. Not just a manuscript I’ve spent months writing, revising, researching, editing, and second-guessing.
A book.
Or at least, the beginning of one.
The finished cover came together yesterday, and I have been staring at it ever since.
There is something strange about seeing a story you have carried around in your head suddenly exist outside of you. Joey, Jed, Coolidge, the mountains, the cabin, the Divide itself—they have all felt real to me for a very long time. Now, for the first time, the book has a face that belongs to that world.
And I’m not showing you all of it yet.
Because after waiting this long, I want to enjoy this part a little.
Here’s your first glimpse
That cabin is not an accidental choice.
If you’ve heard me talk about The Divide before, you already know that a cabin along the Continental Divide sits at the center of Joey’s story.
In 2026, twenty-three-year-old Joey LeBlanc heads into the Montana wilderness needing space to think about a future that suddenly doesn’t look the way she expected.
Then a storm sends her looking for shelter.
She opens a cabin door.
And finds 1915.
That one doorway changes everything.
So when it came time to begin revealing this cover, the cabin felt like the right place to start.
The art behind the cover
One of the things that makes this cover especially meaningful to me is that the artwork was created specifically for The Divide.
Taryn created the original artwork, bringing the landscape and the cabin to life in a way that feels perfectly at home in this story.
Then Shay built the finished cover design, bringing the artwork, typography, wood-grain background, and the rest of the pieces together into the cover you’ll see in full later this week.
I love that this cover has actual people behind it.
It doesn’t feel like something pulled from a catalog or assembled from pieces that could belong to any historical novel. It feels connected to this book.
And that matters to me.
This is getting very real
At the moment, I still don’t have a physical copy sitting in my hands.
The files only came together yesterday. Proofs still need to be ordered. Retail listings are beginning to work their way through review.
So this stage feels a little surreal.
The book exists.
The cover exists.
But I haven’t held them together yet.
That moment is still coming.
And I have a feeling it is going to hit me pretty hard when it does.
The full reveal is coming
For now, you get one little piece.
Over the next few days, I’ll show you a little more before I finally stop being mean and reveal the entire cover.
The full cover reveal for The Divide is coming later this week.
And I cannot wait for you to see what Taryn and Shay helped bring to life.
The Divide is coming November 2026.
Until then, consider the door cracked open.
Just a little.
